Microsoft Employees Top $1B In Charity Giving

Microsoft said Thursday that its employees have raised $1 billion in cash since 1983 for approximately 31,000 nonprofits and community organizations. In a special event at Microsoft's Redmond campus, the company also said it would grant $25,000 to the top four organizations that received the most funding from its employees: United Way of King County, World Vision International, Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation and the American National Red Cross. Microsoft's employee giving program matches volunteer time and charitable giving by its employees, at $17 per hour and up to $12,000 per employee. The company predicts its employees will raise more than $100M in 2012 for nonprofits.
