Amazon.com Launches MP3 Music Download Store

Amazon.com announced today that it will launch a DRM-free, MP3 download store later this year that it says will offer music from more than 12,000 record labels. Amazon said that the store, which will allow end users to download music tracks free from digital rights management software, will include EMI Music's digital catalog. The new store will allow users to play music on any MP3 compatible music player, including PCs, Apple iPods, Microsoft's Zune, and other digital music players.
