An online comparison shopping website, Shop.com, which is backed by Bill Gates and Amazon.com, said yesterday that it has been acquired by another Internet marketing firm. According to Market America, it has acquired Shop.com, which is based in Monterey, California. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. Shop.com's major backers were Bill Gates, Amazon.com, and Oak Investment Partners.
