Amazon.com Acquires dpreview.com

Online retailer Amazon.com revealed Monday that it has acquired www.dpreview.com, a popular Web site for digital camera information and reviews. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though Amazon stated that dpreview.com will remain an independent operation at its London headquarters. Founded in 1998 by Phil Askey, dpreview.com provides product specifications, reviews, side-by-side comparisons and other original content about digital cameras. The site, which hosts millions of unique visitors each month, also has forums and other consumer participation features. Amazon.com is headquartered in Seattle.
