Amazon.com's New Frontier: Your Child's Allowance

Seattle-based Amazon.com told its customers last night that it has launched a brand new service, called Amazon Allowance, which allows parents to give one time, weekly, or monthly gift cards to their children, as part of their allowance. Amazon said the service allows kids 13 to 17 years old to receive an allowance, if they set up their own Amazon.com account and get permission from their parent or guardian. The new service automatically charges parents for those one time, weekly, or monthly allowances, which are directly transferred to their childrens' accounts. Those gift cards can be spent on anything that Amazon.com sells, but cannot be refunded or cashed out.
