Amazon Employs 88,400, Catching Up On Microsoft

Amazon.com looks to on track to be as big as Microsoft, employee wise, if it continues its employee growth rate as it has in the past year. Amazon.com said it now has 88,400 employees in its latest quarter, an increase of 57 percent of last year, meaning the firm has added 32,000 employees in the last year to the company. That's almost as many as software giant Microsoft, which has around 97,106 employees worldwide. The growth at Amazon comes as it has been seeing massive growth in both its fulfillment centers, as well as with software engineers and other technical talent at the company. Neither company has broken down how many of those employees are in the Seattle area.
