Seattle-based Amazon Payments, which provides APIs and other support for ecommerce sites, announced today that it has extended the service to support mobile devices. The firm said its Amazon Mobile Payments Service (Amazon MPS) will provide developers, merchants, and distributors of mobile applications with the abiltiy to take mobile payments. The new service leverages Amazon's payment infrastructure. The firm said adding support does not require any additional backend technology development from web sites.
