    Amazon Invests In Wikia

Amazon.com has invested in San Mateo, California-based Wikia, which is developing a wiki web site on a broad range of topics. Amount of strategic investment the investment was not disclosed. Amazon.com was the sole investor in the round. Wikia competes against the popular Wikipedia web site in providing information on popular topics. The investment follows a Series A funding Wikia received earlier this year from Bessemer Venture Partners, Omidyar Network, and angel investors Marc Andreessen, Josh Kopelman, Joichi Ito, Mitch Kapor, and Ron Conway.
