Amazon On Hiring Binge In Tennessee

Seattle-based Amazon.com said Monday that it is hiring "hundreds" of full-time jobs at its new fulfillment centers in Bradley and Hamilton County, Tennessee. The firm said it is evaluating the creation of as many as three, additional fulfillment centers in the state, which would create as many as 2,700 full time jobs, and up to 4,000 seasonal jobs across the state. The hiring and expansion at Amazon comes on top of expansion at the firm's fulfillment centers nationwide; Amazon also appears to be doubling down on tax-friendly states, moving operations from aggressive taxation states--such as South Carolina--into those with friendlier policies and legislators. Amazon recently aborted its plans for a similar employment expansion in South Carolina after that state pulled promised tax incentives and tax exemptions promised as part of a fulfillment center deal.
