Amazon Takes On Single Sign-On

Seattle-based Amazon.com is hoping to win people over to its new, single sign-on service, throwing its hat into a market where Google, Yahoo, and others have all been trying to dominate. Amazon said its new Login with Amazon service lets Amazon customers sign into other websites, apps, and games using their Amazon login. Amazon's entry into the unified login market allows users to log into other sites without having to create a new username or password; instead, users can use their existing Amazon accounts to login to any services that support those logins. Amazon said the single sign-in capability will be available at no charge to developers of apps, games, and websites, and uses the OAuth 2.0 authorization framework.
