Amazon To Open Warehouse In Illinois, Hire 1000

Seattle-based Amazon.com is continuing to build out its massive network of distribution centers, saying this morning that it plans to open up its first facility in Illinois next year, which will employe more than 1,000 full time workers. Amazon said it will invest $75M in the new facility. Amazon has a massive network of distribution centers nationwide, where workers pick and pack items for delivery to customers. The company also has been very strategic about its new centers, using the promise of jobs to help bend the response of states to the company's growing presence and concerns of impact on local businesses and sales taxes.
