Amazon Web Services Bolsters Oracle Support

Seattle-based Amazon Web Services, the web services arm of Amazon.com, said today that it has added new pay-as-you-go options to its Amazon RDS for Oracle offering. Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service) is a cloud-based database service. Amazon added Oracle support in to RDS in February. Amazon said it now allows access to Oracle databases on an hourly basis, starting at $0.16 per hour. Amazon's other option on Amazon RDS for Oracle is a "bring your own license" option, which allows existing, Oracle database users to use their own Oracle licenses on its cloud servers. Amazon also offers up MySQL on a pay-as-you-go basis.
