Ambric Partners On Codec Development

Beaverton-based Ambric, a developer of RISC processors, announced Monday that it has teamed with Pixellexis Systems & Technologies on development of a JPEG2K codec. According to Ambric, Pixellexis is developing a video processing system using the firm's Am2045 silicon and software. The codec -- used for encoding video streams -- is being used for production camera and medical imaging. Financial impact of the deal were not disclosed. Ambric develops RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computing) processors; Pixellexis is a developer of video processing hardware.
