AppFog Buys Nodester

Portland-based AppFog, the provider of platform-as-a-service (PaaS) tools for the cloud computing market, said this morning that it has acquired Nodester, a developer of Node.js software platforms. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. AppFog, which is led by Lucas Carlson, said it will continue running Nodester as an independent service, until it adds WebSocket support into its platform later this year. Node.js is an open source software language which is being used to enable the development of web-based applications. AppFog's services are used by developer to deploy web applications across Java, .NET, Node.js, Python, PHP, and Ruby.
