    Aventail Acquired By SonicWall

Seattle-based Aventail Corporation, a provider of SSL VPN remote access hardware, has been acquired in a $25M cash deal by SonicWALL, an IT security products firm. SonicWALL said late Tuesday that it is acquiring Aventail to better meet the needs of a broader set of customers. The transaction is expected to close in July. Aventail is a venture-backed firm with backing from Alliance Select Investors, Essex Investment Management, Fidelity Ventures, Focus Ventures, GRP, Madrona Venture Group, Millenium Technology Ventures, Morgan Stanley, Oak Investment Partners, Pivotal Asset Management, Trinity Ventures, and XMLFund. The firm had most recently raised a $55M Series E funding round in 2001.
