Bezos Funds Canadian Quantum Computing Firm D-Wave

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com, has backed a developer of quantum computing technology based in Vancouver, B.C. According to D-Wave, it has raised $30M in a funding round, which included Bezos Expeditions and In-Q-Tel (IQT), the investment arm of the U.S. intelligence community. D-Wave's technology is aimed at "quantum computing", a new technology area which uses quantum mechaniscs and superconducting processors to dramatically accelerate the speed of computing. D-Wave's prior investors also participated, including Business Development Bank of Canada, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Goldman Sachs, Growthworks, Harris & Harris Group, International Investment and Underwriting, and Kensington Partners Limited.
