Cell Therapeutics Hires President

Seattle-based biopharmaceutical firm Cell Therapeutics Inc. reported Thursday that it has hired Craig W. Philips as president, effective Aug. 1. CTI said Philips will oversee drug development, drug sales and marketing, medical affairs, science and finance in the United States and Europe. Philips will report to James Bianco, CTI's current president and chief executive officer. Upon Philips' arrival, Bianco will transition to the sole role of CEO, CT said. Since 2006, Philips has been leading Bayer's U.S. oncology operations as vice president and general manager of its Healthcare Oncology group. He has also worked at Berlex Oncology, Schering Plough and Bristol Myers.
