Chirpify Gets $1.3M For Twitter Commerce

Portland-based Chirpify, a startup developing a way for Twitter users to directly exchange and pay for goods through the Twitter system, announced today that it has raised $1.3M in a Series A funding round. The firm, which is headed by Chris Teso, said the funding came from Voyager Capital, angel investor Geoff Entress, Andy Liu of BuddyTV, former Facebook exec Rudy Gadre, Ryan Holmes of HootSuite, and the TiE Oregon Angels. Chirpify operates a service which allows Twitter users to offer up items for sale directly from a tweet, and also handles allowing Twitter users to actually transact purchases directly from Twitter. The startup's service is being used by all kinds of e-commerce sites, but has been particularly popular with musicians looking to sell songs and concert tickets via Twitter, according to Teso.
