Clearwire Loses $232M, Swizzles Staff

Kirkland-based Clearwire reported its first quarter 2009 results Wednesday afternoon, saying that the firm had an operating loss of $232.9M on $62.1M in revenues for the quarter, and also appointed a new trio of executives. According to Clearwire, it added 25,000 new subscribers for the quarter, bringing it to 500,000 total subscribers. ARPU - average revenue per user -- was $39.52. The new executives are G. Michael Sievert, who has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer, Kevin Hart, who is now CIO, and Laurent Bentitou, who joined as Chief People Officer. The firm said that it is still in the midst of building out its network, and expects to increase its capital expenditures throughout 2009 as it increases its network expansion activities.
