Clearwire Shifts Employees, Network Management To Ericsson

Kirkland-based Clearwire, the operator of the 4G wireless broadband service, said today that it has shifted 700 employees to Ericsson, as part of a move to shift its network management to the company. Clearwire said it has inked a seven year, managed services partnership which will move day-to-day management of its network to Ericsson, to help it realize operational efficiencies and reduce operating costs. Clearwire said Ericsson will be responsible for network engineering, operations and maintenance of its network, with 700 of its employees being moved over to Ericsson as part of the deal. Ericsson also maintains Sprint's network. Financial details of the deal were not announced.
