Cray Gets $60M Win In Stuttgart
Seattle-based supercomputer maker Cray Inc. said today that it has received a new contract from the University of Stuttgart, worth more than $60M. According to Cray, it will deliver a new supercompuer to the University's High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS), including a Cray XE6 and future deliver of its next generation supercomputer, currently code-named "Cascade." Cray said that the HLRS center offers up high performance computing capability to researchers, scientists, and engineers in Europe, including work with industrial, automotive, and aerospace engineering partners. Cray expects to deliver the XE6 into production by 2011, with the Cascade sometime in the second half of 2013.
