Cray Gets Australian Deal Worth Up To $53M

Seattle-based Cray has scored a deal in Australia, which it says is worth up ot $53M. According to Cray, it has won another supercomputer and storage contract with Australia's Bureau of Meteorology, to provide a Cray XC40 supercompuer and Cray Sonexion 2000 storage system. The supercomputers will be used for weather and climate forecasting. Cray said the computer will help Australians better manage the impacts of their natural environment, including drought, floods, fires, storms, tsunami and tropical cyclones.
