Seattle-based supercomputer developer Cray said Tuesday that it has scored an upgrade at Indiana University, where the university will replace its supercomputer system, Big Red, with a next generation Cray XK supercomputer. Financial impact of the upgrade was not announced. Cray said that the new supercomputer, Big Red II, will be the nation's fastest university-owned supercomputer. The new supercomputer is expected to be installed in the Spring of 2013.
