    Digimarc Gets Georgia Contract

Digimarc Corp., a printer of secure personal identifications and other sensitive documents, revealed this morning that it has landed a new contract from the Georgia Department of Driver Services that could be worth as much as $40 million over the next seven years. The Beaverton, Ore.-based company said the agreement comes with an initial one-year term but provides for six one-year renewal options at the department's discretion. Digimarc explained that it will partner with the department to design, develop and deploy a new digital driver's license program. Digimarc will then support the program upon its implementation, the company said. Digimarc added that the program’s goal is to begin issuing revised driver's licenses and ID cards from a new centralized production facility by July 1, 2009.
