Echodyne Gets $29M For Radar Technology

Bellevue-based Echodyne, a developer of technology being used to provide radar to small vehicles like drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles, has raised $29M in a Series B funding, the company said this morning. The funding was led by NEA, and also included Bill Gates, Madrona Venture Group, Vulcan Capital, Lux Capital, The Kresge Foundation and others. Echodyne's radar technology is based on metamaterials, which it says enables it to provide radar capability that is "orders of magnitude" smaller, lighter, and more affordable than current, phased array radar. Eben Frankenberg is CEO at Echodyne.
