Portland-based Elemental Technologies, the provider of video transcoding technology and equipment, said today that its equipment will be used by multiple broadcasters to stream the 2012 Olympic Games to viewers. Elemental said its customers include the BBC, Terra in Latin America, Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, and Eurosport. Elemental said it expects its equipment to be used in 70 countries and reach more than a billion potential viewers. Financial details of the various wins for the firm were not disclosed. Elemental's hardware is used to transcode video into different formats in real time.
