Elemental Technologies Deploys At PBS

Portland-based Elemental Technologies, which develops video processing hardware, reported Tuesday that it has been selected by PBS to provide video compression to PBS stations across the country. Financial details of the win were not disclosed. Elemental Technologies said the win comes in connection with RadiantGrid's media delivery platform. The company said RadiantGrid is providing a transcoding product to convert and deliver file-based broadcast content to 180 PBS licensees, and is using its products as part of that solution. Elemental is headed by Sam Blackman, and backed by Steamboat Ventures, General Catalyst Partners and Voyager.
