Elemental Uses Buybacks To Ramp Customer Base
Portland-based Elemental Technologies, the developer of video transcoding devices that use graphical processors (GPUs) to accelerate those operations, is using a unique strategy to ramp its sales: competitive buybacks. The firm said today that it has launched an "aggressive" competitive buyback program to expand adoption of its products, which are used to transcode videos into different formats. The firm's hardware accelerates video streaming to different devices, and to translate videos into specific formats. Elemental's hardware and software takes advantage of the low cost and availability of graphic processing units (GPUs) to quickly transcode videos from one format to another.
