En Masse Opens Up MMO
Seattle-based game publisher En Masse Entertainment said today that it is opening up its massively multipler online game, TERA, with new, subscription-free access to the game. According to the firm, its TERA: Rising title will require no upfront payment, and will instead offer up an in-game store and "elite status" options for players available for purchase. The firm said it will be launching new in-game content as part of the move to the new model. The move is not surprising: online game publishers have been seeing a shift towards non-subscription, virtual item and premium memberships models recently.
