Expedia Launches New Experimental Labs Site

Bellevue-based Expedia.com said on Wednesday that it has launched a new website, called Expedia Labs, where it will showcase experimental technology and travel concepts built through the company and its partners. According to Expedia, the new Expedia Labs will let its users play with those trip planning tools and applications, before they are available on its wider sites and apps. The effort takes a playbook from the very early days of Google, which pioneered the concept with Google Labs, its effort to let users play with various technologies--an effort which shut down by Google in 2011.
