Expedia Launches Site For Spanish Travelers

Expedia Inc., the company behind travel Web site Expedia.com, has expanded its European operations by launching a site for travelers in Spain, the company reported Thursday. Called Expedia.es, the new site is the company'’s first Spanish-language, Expedia-branded property and its ninth point of sale in Europe. The travel-booking service includes a database of more than 70,000 hotels, 3,000 leisure activities and 5,000 destinations. Expedia's international network of 13 travel-booking sites hosts more than 50 million visitors each month. Based in Redmond, Wash., the company was originally founded in 1995 as a Microsoft property.
