F5 Connects Into Amazon Web Services
Seattle-based F5 Networks is connecting its Internet traffic shaping products into Amazon Web Services, via a new product called BIG-IP virtual edition for AWS. F5, which announced the product at Amazon's AWS re: Invent 2012 conference in Las Vegas, said the new product lets enterprise customers control the flow of traffic to their web applications in AWS. F5 explained that the new product provides the equivalent features to physical, BIG-IP devices in AWS as its physical hardware. The new AWS virtual editions of BIG-IP will operate on a "bring your own license" model, which requires that users buy a perpetual license from F5 and assign them to instances; pricing on those license was not announced.
