FEI Company Acquired By Thermo Fisher Scientific For $4.2 Billion

Hillsboro, Oregon-based FEI Company, the developer of electron microscopy equipment, has been acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific, in a deal worth $4.2 billion, the two said this morning. According to the two, Thermo Fisher will pay $107.50 per share in cash for publicly held FEI, which trades on the NASDAQ as FEIC. FEI has more than 3,000 employees worldwide, and had revenues of $930M in 2015. The two said FEI becomes part of Thermo Fisher's Analytical Instruments business.
