FLIR Systems to Acquire Extech Instruments

Portland, Ore.-based FLIR Systems Inc., a producer of thermal-imaging and stabilized camera systems, has agreed to purchase Extech Instruments Corp., a manufacturer of test and measurement equipment and portable receipt printers, Extech announced Monday. Terms of the transaction, which Extech said should conclude later this quarter, were not disclosed. According to Extech, FLIR will purchase Extech stock from company president and owner, Jerry Blakeley. In acquiring Extech, FLIR gains access to low-cost manufacturing in Asia as well as key distribution channels for its low-price thermography products, Extech noted. Extech is headquartered in Waltham, Mass.
