    Xenocode Takes On "Application" Virtualization

Seattle-based startup Xenocode said today that it has launched new software targeted at allowing developers to create independent, standalone software which do not require external libraries, device drivers, and other software. The firm said its software, Xenocode Virtual Application Studio, will convert existing Windows, .NET, and Java-based software into virtual applications, which separate applications from underlying operating systems. The firm said it is specifically targeted at helping applications run on Windows Vista, locked-down desktops, and to help run otherwise incompatible applications and multiple versions of software on a single machine. The firm's technology is based on emulating core operating system features for applications to decouple them from an underlying OS.
