Redfin Hit By Data Center Fire Over Weekend

Seattle-based real estate web site Redfin lost its service Saturday morning, due to a fire in the data center which the firm uses to host its web servers, the company said over the weekend. The fire, which according to a Redfin spokesperson did not damage any of its servers, caused the shut down of the company's web servers between 5 am and 10am on Saturday, when the fire department shut down power to the data center. A Redfin spokesperson did not identify the shared data facility where the fire occurred or damage, only saying that the fire only took the firm offline for a short period of time, with the main impact that customers were unable to access the site.
