    Microsoft Buys Mobile Software Firm

Microsoft said today that it intends to acquire MobiComp, a developer of technology used to backup and restore mobile data, and post content to social networking sites such as Facebook. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. MobiComp is based in Portugal. Microsoft said the acquisition will help Microsoft's vision of providing "compelling experiences that span work and play across mobile phones, the Web and PCs." MobiComp was founded in 2000, and currently offers its services on 11 mobile operators worldwide.
