![]() Thursday, July 24, 2008 General Software Acquired By Embedded Software FirmBellevue, Washington-based General Software, a developer of embedded BIOS software, is being acquired by Phoenix Technologies, Phoenix said this morning. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. General Software provides BIOS and firmware code for the embedded computing market, and was founded in 1989. No details on changes to employment in Bellevue were released. Phoenix Technologies, which is based in Silicon Valley, is also a developer of BIOS software, which is used for embedded computing systems. BIOS software is used to control PCs, embedded devices, networking products, and medical products. According to Phoenix Technologies, General Software's customers include Boeing, Cisco Systems, GE Healthcare, Microsoft, Nielsen Media Research and Siemens Acuson. posted on Thursday, July 24, 2008
