Itron Ties With Panasonic On Smart Meters

Liberty Lake, Washington-based smart utility meter developer Itron reported this morning that it has formed a strategic alliance with Panasonic, to develop a smart meter platform for Japan. Financial details of the collaboratoin were not disclosed. Itron said the deal will help it meet Japan's electric utilities' needs and requirements. As part of the deal, the two said that Itron will design, develop and deliver an Itron smart meter with its 3G cellular communications to Panasonic.
