Nordstrom Enters Texting Era

Want some help picking up some fashionable clothing using your phone? Seattle-based department store retailer Nordstrom has launched a new, text-messaging service, which it says will allow its customers to shop and buy for clothes at the retailer via texting. Nordstrom said the new TextStyle service has launched at all of its 116, U.S. stores, and will allow customers to make purchases from their salesperson or a personal stylist via text. The new service works in conjunction with an opt-in texting service, where Nordstrom salespeople can recommend items for customers, who then have the option to purchase those items directly and have them shipped to them at home. The new shopping-by-text service is being enabled by phone API provider Twilio. Twilio started in Seattle, but has since moved to the Bay Area.
