AWS Converts All Of Ocean Shipping Carrier Matson's Data Centers To Cloud

Amazon Web Services has signed up ocean shipping carrier Matson as the latest company to adopt its cloud services instead of its own data centers, Amazon said today. According to Amazon, Matson has closed all four of its own on-premise data centers, and instead migrated all of its data to the AWS Cloud. Amazon did not say how much the deal was worth to the company, but said Matson expects to have faster performance, increased reliability and security, and IT infrastructure cost savings due to the move. Amazon said Matson moved everything it runs--including custom-built order-to-cash booking and billing systems, terminal operations, global equipment management, U.S.-wide logistics applications, and customer-facing website--to the AWS Cloud.
