Amazon Delivers More Than 2 Billion Items For Third Party Sellers

Seattle-based Amazon said on Wednesday that it tallied up 2 billion items delivered for its third party, "Fulfillment by Amazon" sellers in 2016. According to Amazon.com it also grew its delivery of those items by 50 percent during the holiday season. Fulfillment by Amazon allows third party sellers to send in items to Amazon, which are stored in Amazon's own warehouses, and picked and packed by Amazon's employees. Amazon charges a fee for the service and for storage of items which are not selling, however, sellers gain access to Amazon's popular Amazon Prime members, who often receive those third party items for free shipping. Amazon claims that its available of Fulfillment by Amazon has created more than 600,000 new jobs outside the company.
