Geospiza Gets $1.2M SBIR Grant

Seattle-based Geospiza, the developer of software for the genetic analysis market, reported today that it has received a $1.2M phase II SBIR grant from the National Institutes of health. The firm said the grant will go towards developing a new application to identify and visualize DNA sequence variations in cancer tissue. The research is being done in conjunction with researchers as the Weil Cornell Medical College and Mayo Clinic. Geospiza said the DNA application is one of the biggest challenges researchers face in developing cancer tests.
