Human Unveils Wireless Audio Gadget, Hints At Real Life Babelfish

Seattle-based startup Human, the stealthy audio startup which raised $5M in April, said it has launched its flagship program, which is it calling "Sound". The company--led by Ben Willis--said its technology securely attaches to an ear, and has no cables, wires, or headbands, and allows listeners to control the sound and volume of not just audio, but their external surroundings. The company also said it is developing a number of applications around "face to face human interaction" and one which will "aim to break language barriers." Human said it is backed by Kurt Beecher Dammeier (early Amazon investor), Fred Warren (Apple), and Daniel Darling of Darling Ventures. The Babelfish is a fictional creature out of the book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which attached to a person's ear and instantly translated any language.
