    Impinj Buys Intel's RFID Operations

Seattle-based Impinj said this morning that it has acquired Intel Corp's RFID operations, a developer of RFID reader chips. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Impinj said the acquisition of the Intel assets will further enhance its position in the RFID market. Intel's RFID operations were part of Intel's New Business Initiatives (NBI) incubator. Impinj specifically identified Intel's highly integrated reader radio chip as adding to the firm's RFID product line.
