Impinj Gets Win At Coca-Cola

Seattle-based Impinj, a developer of RFID technology, has scored a win with The Coca-Cola Company to provide the RFID chips behind Coca-Cola's new Freestyle beverage dispensing system. The system allows customers to order up to 100 different drinks from a single machine, and uses the RFID chips within the machine to handle catridges and identify what kind of flavorings are in each. That data, in turn, is transmitted to bottlers to better track what drinks are selling best. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed by Impinj. The firm is backed by AllianceBernstein, ARCH Venture Partners, GF Private Equity, Intel Capital, Inventec Appliances Corporation (IAC), LS Industrial Systems Co. Ltd., Madrona Venture Group , Mobius Venture Capital, Polaris Venture Partners, Samsung Ventures America, Unilever Technology Ventures, UPS Strategic Enterprise Fund, VentureTech Alliance, Viterbi Group, and YFY Group.
