Infinia Gets $3.0M From Energy Department

Kennewick, Washington-based Infinia Corporation is one of the beneficiaries of a $62M investment effort by the U.S. Department of Energy in concentrating solar power technology, the DOE announced Friday. According to the DOE, it is awarding $3.0M to Infinia for developing its large-scale, thermal energy storage solution for solar dishes. The DOE said that Infinia's technology would allow large amounts of energy to be stored in a cost-effective and efficient manner. The grants come as part of a push to advance concentrating solar power. The DOE says it hopes the activity will help provide a "breakthrough" for the concentrating solar power dish industry.
