Liberty Lake-based smart utility meter maker Itron said this morning that it has installed 800,000 of its smart meters, via a combination of electric meters and gas modules, in Southeastern Michigan. The deployment came via utility DTE Energy. Itron did not say what the effort is worth to the company, but said the count is a "significant milestone" for DTE's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project.
