Smart meter maker Itron, which is based in Liberty Lake, Wash., said today that it is expanding into the solar market, with a new product specifically aimed at monitoring residential and commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Itron said its new product takes advantage of cellular communications links to monitor, collect, stores, and upload solar production data. The firm said its new products are aimed at third-party solar providers. Pricing on the new products were not announced.
