Jott Rolls Out Voicemail Service, To Ditch Free Offerings

Seattle-based Jott Networks said Tuesday that it has added a voicemail offering to its service, which will allow users to transcribe their voicemail into text. According to Jott, the new service, Jott Voicemail, will translate voicemail messages into email, SMS text, or the web, allowing users to read their voicemail and share and store those messages. The new offering will cost $9.95 per month, and comes as reports that the firm will be dropping its free offerings in the next month, due to an anticipated drop in advertising revenue in 2009. John Pollard, Jott's CEO and co-founder of the firm, said in a blog post that the firm will drop its free services on February 2nd. Pollard explained that the plan to pay for its service using advertising was "not sustainable right now."
